Qualification Verification

  • Qualification verification is a quick and effective way to check the suitability of an individual for the position they are applying for. We can verify an individual’s entire academic history, industry qualifications and professional memberships directly with the issuing institutions. Typical qualification verification types can include Matric, Grade 12, Degrees, Diplomas, short courses and many more.

Criminal

  • MIE uses the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) technology to determine the criminal background status of a person. Criminal record verification in South Africa is legally required to be verified by using a set of digitally captured fingerprints. Using the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), fingerprints are verified electronically against the South African Police Services (SAPS) database.

Adverse Financial History

  • All adverse financial history verifications performed through MIE takes place in a real-time electronic environment, ensuring fast and accurate feedback. As a registered Credit Bureau, MIE sources credit information directly from all major credit bureaus in South Africa.

Through direct contact with data sources, and in-country partnerships, we can provide a focused and specialised background screening solution to our clients. MIE’s global screening services have emerged as a direct response to Africa’s ever-increasing growth and economic expansion. This has led to a greater culture of compliance, transparency, anti-graft initiatives and fraud prevention mechanisms in both the public and private sectors.

Memberships and Accreditations

  • MIE verifies memberships of professional organisations or institutions via the particular organisation concerned. We also verify whether an academic institution is accredited by the relevant governing body; and the registration status of an individual with the Private Security Officers Regulatory Authority (PSIRA).

Drivers License

  • Verify whether an individual's driver’s licence is authentic, valid, or expired. In addition to standard driver’s licences, MIE also verifies Professional Drivers Permits (PrDP) and various licence codes. Learners licences can also be checked.

Identity

  • The identity verification confirms the authenticity of both the ID number and the individual to whom it belongs. This is done by matching the name and surname of the individual to the ID number provided. The option, ID Verification with photo, bridges the gap that often surfaces in terms of identity theft.

Insurance Regulation

  • DoFA (Date of First Appointment) is the date on which an individual is first appointed and registered on the central representative register of the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) to on-sell various insurance related products. Two options are available.

Fraud Prevention

  • Fraud is extremely difficult to prove and prevent, especially if you are unfamiliar with relevant legislation, processes, and procedures. As a registered member of the Southern African Fraud Prevention Service, MIE can assist by undertaking a fraud listing verification on an individual prior to appointment. The verification will return information on an individual’s fraudulent activity. A Layered Voice Analysis (LVA) test, is a voice-based truth determination tool which identifies honesty and deception in an individual’s voice.

Social Media

  • Social media screening continues to gain popularity in the market as it provides a wealth of information on individuals. Not only is social media screening ground-breaking when it comes to individual screening, but increasingly, companies are using social media screening as a preventative measure to protect their brand and reputation. Social media screening provides better insight into an individual’s behaviour on all social media platforms and has proven to increase employee productivity and retention.

Employment History

  • Conducting a thorough reference check before onboarding any individual should form an integral part of an organisations Human Resource policies and procedures. Verifying the employment history of an individual will not only provide insights into their character and capabilities, but also assist in verifying that all details on their CV is accurate.

Vehicle Information

  • This service confirms the registration details, make and model as well as current owners of the license number returned in the Vehicle Registration check. Check the number of vehicles listed against an individuals’ South African ID number. This check also provides information regarding a company’s vehicle fleet.

Directorship Search

  • A directorship search details an individual’s current and previous affiliations and a summary of companies in which the individual is currently, or was previously, a director.

Deed Search

  • This search returns the details of properties currently and previously registered to an individual.

Retail Employment History

  • This search is performed on a centralised industry database that contains factual and non-discriminatory information about an individual’s employment history within the retail industry. By making use of this verification, a company can make employment decisions based on the individual’s industry track record.

Sanctions

  • The world check database provides information on Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), sanctions and heightened risk individuals and organisations.

Deceased Status

  • Confirmation on whether an individual is listed with the Department of Home Affairs as deceased or alive.

Marital Status

  • Verifies an individual’s marital status as registered by the Department of Home Affairs in South Africa.

Persal

  • The Personal and Salary System (PERSAL) is the central system used for the administration of the public service payroll, which in turn confirms whether an individual is currently or was previously employed in the South African public sector.
